Artist Statement

Rationale

Fundamentally, I would define my artistic vocation within a ‘socially interactive and environmentally concerned bracket.’ I would say I am a public artist, who creates a type of ‘holistic art;’ seeking to explore, address and heal our relationship with nature, each other and ultimately with ourselves.

I feel that every one is an artist, and consider the role of the artist as healer and the creative process as a primary healing tool. I believe that all people regardless of age, sex, social class, cultural identity or artistic training have the creative potential to produce Art and the capacity to appreciate it.

The underlying theme that runs throughout my art practice is one of myth and magic. I have spent many years now studying ancient esoteric traditions; in particular the universal stories, ritual and worship of the ‘sacred feminine.' As a woman, a mother, a sister, a daughter, I have realized the transformative effect ‘She’ has on the psyche of the human being, and the affirmation ‘Her’ presence gives to us both individually and collectively for the healing of our World.
